Eva Woods Peiró

Eva Woods Peiró is an Associate Professor and Chair of Hispanic Studies at Vassar College. She has taught and mentored in the Media Studies, Latin American and Latinx Studies, Women’s Studies and International Studies Programs. She is the author of White Gypsies: Race and Stardom in Spanish Musicals (Minnesota UP, 2012) and is the co-editor of the collected volume of essays Seeing Spain: Vision and Modernity, 1868-1936 (Berg, 2005). She is one of the authors of the forthcoming Cinema and the Mediation of Everyday Life: An Oral History of Spanish Cinemagoing in the 1940s and 50s. Her articles on Spanish cinema have appeared in the Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies, Arizona Journal of Hispanic Cultural StudiesStudies in Spanish and Latin American CinemasLetras Peninsulares and in the collections Performance and Spanish Film, The Blackwell Companion to Spanish CinemaBurning Darkness: A Half Century of Spanish CinemaGender and Spanish Cinema, and Spanish Popular Cinema. Her current projects focus on Spanish film magazines of the 1920s and 30s and contemporary Spanish-transnational digital cinema.
